General questions
Our current wait time is 2–4 weeks for the first clinical interview. If all sessions are booked from the start, we can complete a full ADHD assessment and begin medical treatment (if relevant) within 3-4 weeks from the first session.
A typical ADHD/ADD assessment incl. medical treatment: Clinical interview (2 hours): 2,900 DKK, ADHD assessment with DIVA-5 (2 hours): 3,500 DKK, Feedback session and treatment plan (2 hours): 3,000 DKK, First psychiatrist consultation (1 hour): 2,500 DKK, 2 follow-up consultations (30 min.): 1,200 DKK per session. You don't need a referral to book. You can contact us directly. We are registered with Sygeforsikring Danmark (group 1, 2, 5, and 6), so if you are 25 or younger and have a GP referral, you may be eligible for a refund covering assessment and psychotherapy. If you have other private health insurance, you pay us directly and apply for reimbursement with your receipt.
Yes, we offer our services in English, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Assessments and sessions can be conducted online, but we prefer the clinical interview and initial medication consultation to be in person.
No, we only assess and treat adults (18+). For children and adolescents, we recommend contacting your GP for a referral to a child and adolescent psychiatric department.
Yes, we have two psychiatrists at our clinic in Copenhagen: Rasmus Wæhrens (specialist in psychiatry, PhD) and Martin Bergholtz (senior psychiatry resident). They handle medical evaluation, ADHD medication initiation, and follow-up dose adjustments. You don't need a separate referral to a psychiatrist — it's included in our complete assessment pathway. Wait time is 2–4 weeks, compared to 1.5–3 years in the public system.
You can book online through our booking system or contact us at info@alethia.dk. Payment is made online at booking or after each session via invoice. We also accept cash (we do not have a cash register and cannot give change). Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the appointment; otherwise the full amount will be charged.
We prefer that you first send us an email at info@alethia.dk. We aim to get back to you by email or phone within two business days. You can also call us at +45 42 62 00 51 during phone hours (Monday and Thursday 15:30–17:00).
ADHD assessment
ADD is an older term for the primarily inattentive type of ADHD, ADHD without the hyperactive component. Today, the term ADHD is used for all types, but a distinction is made between three presentations: primarily inattentive (formerly ADD), primarily hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. At Alethia, we assess all three forms. Read more about ADHD vs. ADD.
An ADHD assessment at Alethia follows a structured process: First a clinical interview and screening, then a diagnostic assessment with DIVA-5, followed by feedback with epicrisis and treatment plan. After that, medical treatment can be started with our psychiatrist, along with ongoing therapy and follow-up.
No, you can book directly with us without a referral. If you already have a GP referral and are a member of Sygeforsikring Danmark (group 1, 2, 5, or 6) and 25 or younger, you may be eligible for a refund.
Yes, we have psychiatrists affiliated with the clinic who can initiate and adjust ADHD medication as part of your treatment. Medication adjustment and monitoring is done continuously with follow-up consultations.
After the assessment, you receive a written epicrisis with diagnosis and an individual treatment plan. If ADHD is confirmed, we can offer medical treatment with our psychiatrist as well as psychotherapy or psychoeducation tailored to your needs.

Autism assessment
Autism assessment focuses on social interaction patterns, communication, and sensory experiences, primarily through ADOS-2 observation. ADHD assessment focuses on attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity via DIVA-5 interview. Many adults have both conditions, and we can assess both ADHD and autism in the same process.
Yes, many adults, especially women, discover their autism later in life. Autism in adults, particularly those with average or high intelligence, is often overlooked in childhood. Many develop masking strategies that hide their autistic traits. A professional assessment can provide clarity and understanding. Read about autism in women.
An autism assessment costs from DKK 9,400 (clinical interview, AAA, and feedback). If ADOS-2 is indicated, the price is DKK 12,900. See our pricing page.
You receive a detailed report with diagnostic clarification and recommendations. We offer follow-up therapy focusing on strengths-based strategies, sensory needs, communication and relationships. Many clients experience great relief from better understanding themselves.

Diagnostic tools and methods
DIVA-5 is a semi-structured diagnostic interview developed specifically for assessing ADHD in adults. It is the gold standard recommended by the Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsstyrelsen) and systematically reviews all DSM-5 criteria for ADHD, both current symptoms and childhood symptoms. We recommend bringing a relative who knew you as a child.
Our primary tool for autism assessment is a structured anamnestic interview, conducted with all clients. We use both the AAA (Autisme Anamnestisk interview) and the Autism Anamnestic Interview, which differ slightly in structure but cover the same ground. ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Module 4) is an internationally recognized observation tool that we use as a supplement when the clinical picture is unclear or when the client has developed effective camouflaging strategies.
RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale — Revised) is a self-report questionnaire with 80 items measuring autistic traits across four domains: language, social relationships, sensory-motor processing, and circumscribed interests. It is used alongside clinical interview and potentially ADOS-2 to provide a comprehensive picture of autistic traits.
At Alethia, psychologists conduct the clinical interview, administer the diagnostic tools (DIVA-5, ADOS-2), and make the diagnosis independently. Psychiatrists contribute medical evaluation, initiate medication, and manage dose optimization. The psychologist is the primary assessor, and the psychiatrist supplements with the medical perspective.
An epicrisis is the written diagnostic report you receive after your assessment. It contains your diagnosis, results from the diagnostic tests, and an individual treatment plan with recommendations for next steps. The epicrisis can be used to document your diagnosis for other healthcare providers, your GP, employers, educational institutions, or insurance companies.
Treatment and therapy
Our approach is eclectic and client-centered. The psychologist draws on the methods that best suit you, including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for trauma, narrative therapy, and psychoeducation. Therapy can take place at our clinic on Fiolstræde 14 or online. The price is DKK 1,200 per session. Read about treatment options.
Medical treatment of ADHD is managed by our psychiatrists in Copenhagen. The first psychiatric consultation takes approximately 1 hour (DKK 2,500), followed by 2 follow-up consultations of 30 minutes (DKK 1,200) over 4–8 weeks for dose optimization. Once a stable dose is achieved, your GP can take over ongoing prescription management.
Yes, therapy, medication adjustment, and follow-ups can be conducted online. However, we prefer the initial clinical interview and first psychiatric consultation to be in person at the clinic. Online sessions are available for clients throughout Denmark and for Danish expats abroad.
Yes, we offer individual psychoeducation for adults with ADHD or ADD. The program covers understanding your diagnosis, daily strategies for planning, emotion regulation, and stress management. Psychoeducation is an important part of treatment and can help you leverage your strengths and manage everyday challenges.
