Neuroaffirming assessment and thorough diagnostics for adults.
Short wait time
Private autism assessment for adults in Copenhagen at Alethia costs from 9,700 DKK (without ADOS-2) to 13,200 DKK (with ADOS-2) and typically takes a few sessions over a few weeks. The assessment uses the internationally recognized ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule), autism anamnestic interview (AAA), and RAADS-R self-report. The clinic works with a neuroaffirming approach focused on strengths-based support. Short wait time, and no referral is required. Our multidisciplinary team speaks Danish, English, Norwegian, and Swedish and has specialized experience with autism in women and late-diagnosed adults.
What is autism?
Autism is a natural neurological variation in how people experience and interact with the world. It is not a disease or something to be 'fixed'. Autism affects social interactions, communication, sensory processing, and behavioral patterns in ways unique to each individual.
Many adults, especially women and those with high intellectual capacity, receive their diagnosis later in life. They have often developed compensatory strategies ('masking') that hide their autistic traits from the world, but which cost enormous energy and can lead to burnout, anxiety and depression.
At Alethia, we offer professional diagnostic evaluation of autism in a safe, neuroaffirming environment. We see autism as part of natural human neurodiversity and work with a strengths-based approach focused on helping you understand yourself better.
How much does a private autism assessment cost?
An autism assessment at Alethia costs 9,700 DKK across three sessions (without ADOS-2). If ADOS-2 is indicated, the total price is 13,200 DKK. You pay per session and are not locked into a package.
How long does an autism assessment take?
A full assessment typically takes a few sessions over a few weeks. We have short wait times. You can book directly online without a referral.
What tools are used for autism assessment?
We use the autism anamnestic interview (AAA) as our primary diagnostic tool, supplemented by RAADS-R, CAT-Q, or other relevant self-report questionnaires. ADOS-2 is used only when the diagnostic picture remains unclear after AAA. AAA is a structured diagnostic interview with an informant (typically a parent) that systematically evaluates social interaction, communication, behaviour, and interests across the full developmental history.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly at Alethia without a referral from your GP. If you are a member of Sygeforsikring Danmark (group 1, 2, 5, 6), 25 or younger, and have a GP referral, you may be eligible for a refund on assessment and psychotherapy.
How we help
- Gold-standard assessments using ADOS-2, AAA and other validated tools
- Strengths-based support, building on your unique way of thinking
- Practical guidance for communication, relationships, and sensory needs
- Lifelong strategies tailored to your goals and daily life
- Specialized experience with autism in women and late-diagnosed adults
The assessment process step by step
Late diagnosis of autism is more common than many realize. Many adults, especially women and those with high intellectual capacity, have developed compensatory strategies that effectively hide autistic traits from the world. Burnout, anxiety, and depression can be consequences of years of masking. A neuroaffirming assessment sees autism as part of natural human variation and focuses on understanding your strengths and needs, not on finding deficits.

Why Alethia
Why choose Alethia for your autism assessment?
Neuroaffirming approach
We see autism as a natural variation, not a disease. Our assessment is strengths-based and focuses on understanding you, not on finding deficits.
ADOS-2 and AAA
We use the internationally recognized tools ADOS-2 (observation) and AAA (Autism Anamnestic Interview), supplemented with RAADS-R and CAT-Q.
Concurrent ADHD assessment
50 to 70% of adults with autism also have ADHD. We screen for both conditions from the start, so you don't end up with only half the picture.
Short wait time
A full assessment typically takes a few sessions over a few weeks. In the public system, the wait is often over 1 to 2 years.
Everything under one roof
Clinical psychologists and psychiatrists collaborate closely. If medical treatment is needed for e.g. comorbid ADHD, it can be initiated immediately.
Experience with late-diagnosed adults
Many of our clients are adults who have lived with unidentified autism for decades. We understand masking, compensation, and the challenges that come with it.

Who is the assessment for?
Our diagnostic process is for adults (18+) who:
- Experience persistent difficulties in social situations despite many attempts to adapt
- Have sensory over- or under-sensitivity (light, sound, touch, taste)
- Feel different from others, 'like watching the world from outside'
- Tend toward intense special interests and need for predictability
- Experience burnout, anxiety or depression as possible consequences of 'masking'
- Have received ADHD or anxiety diagnosis, but feel it doesn't explain everything
- Want self-understanding and clarity regardless of whether they receive a diagnosis

Frequently asked questions
Autism assessment focuses on social interaction patterns, communication, and sensory experiences, primarily through ADOS-2 observation. ADHD assessment focuses on attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity via DIVA-5 interview. Many adults have both conditions, and we can assess both ADHD and autism in the same process.
The process begins with self-report screening (often RAADS-R, CAT-Q, AQ or other validated instruments), followed by a thorough clinical interview reviewing your developmental history, social functioning, and sensory experiences. AAA (Adult Asperger Assessment) is the core structured interview. If clinically indicated, we add ADOS-2 observation. The process concludes with a feedback session and written epicrisis. No referral needed.
Yes, many adults, especially women, discover their autism later in life. Autism in adults, particularly those with average or high intelligence, is often overlooked in childhood. Many develop 'masking' strategies that hide their autistic traits. A professional assessment can provide clarity and understanding.
The process costs from DKK 9,700 (clinical interview, AAA, and feedback). If ADOS-2 is indicated, the price is DKK 13,200. See our pricing page for details.
