ADHD Assessment at Alethia

ADD is an older term for the primarily inattentive type of ADHD, without the hyperactive component. Today, the term ADHD is used for all types, but a distinction is made between three presentations: primarily inattentive (formerly ADD), primarily hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. At Alethia, we assess all three forms.

The assessment at Alethia follows a structured process: First a clinical interview and screening (approx. 2 hours), then a diagnostic assessment with DIVA-5 (approx. 2 hours), followed by feedback with epicrisis and treatment plan. After that, medical treatment can be started with our psychiatrist, along with ongoing therapy and follow-up.

A full ADHD assessment incl. medical treatment typically costs 14,300 DKK. This includes clinical interview (2,900 DKK), DIVA-5 assessment (3,500 DKK), feedback and treatment plan (3,000 DKK), first psychiatrist consultation (2,500 DKK) and two follow-up consultations (1,200 DKK each).

Our current wait time is 2–4 weeks for the first clinical interview. If all sessions are booked from the start, a full assessment and possible medication start can be completed within 3–4 weeks.

No, you can book directly with us without a referral. If you already have a GP referral and are a member of Sygeforsikring Danmark (group 1, 2, 5, or 6) and 25 or younger, you may be eligible for a refund.

Yes, we offer assessment and treatment in Danish, English, Norwegian and Swedish. All our clinicians are multilingual.

Yes, we have psychiatrists affiliated with the clinic who can initiate and adjust ADHD medication as part of your treatment. Medication adjustment and monitoring is done continuously with follow-up consultations.

Regardless of the outcome, you receive a written report and an individual plan. If ADHD is confirmed, we can offer medical treatment and psychotherapy. If you don't meet the criteria for a diagnosis, we still review the results in a feedback session and make a plan together, e.g. therapy, psychoeducation, or further assessment for other conditions.

In the public system, ADHD assessment is free but the wait is typically 1.5–3 years. At Alethia, the wait is 2–4 weeks, and a complete assessment including medication can be completed within 3–4 weeks. Our multidisciplinary team ensures that assessment, diagnosis and medical treatment happen under one roof. No waiting for another referral after diagnosis.

Our psychiatrists in Copenhagen handle all medication management. After diagnosis, you can start medication at an initial psychiatrist consultation (approx. 1 hour). This is followed by follow-up consultations where we adjust dosage and monitor effects and side effects. We work with all approved ADHD medications in Denmark and tailor treatment to your individual needs.
