The Process
How an ADHD assessment works at Alethia
A thorough assessment is essential because concentration difficulties can stem from many different causes. 70 to 80% of everyone with ADHD has at least one other condition, such as anxiety, depression, or autism. If you only look for ADHD, you risk missing something that fundamentally changes the treatment plan. That is why we screen broadly from the first session and use DIVA-5, the diagnostic interview recommended by the Danish Health Authority, to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

Today, the term ADHD is used for all types, but a distinction is made between three presentations: primarily inattentive (formerly ADD), primarily hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. At Alethia, we assess all three forms.
The assessment at Alethia follows a structured process: First a clinical interview and screening (approx. 2 hours), then a diagnostic assessment with DIVA-5 (approx. 2 hours), followed by feedback with epicrisis and treatment plan. After that, medical treatment can be started with our psychiatrist, along with ongoing therapy and follow-up.
